Family dinner at the Hechts

Meeting Alexis Kate Hecht
Born Friday, May 1
6 lb 10 oz 19.5 in

The whole gang. Granny, Grandpa, Uncle Kyle, Uncle Ryan, Aunt Sarah, Baby Alexis, Ryan, Tyler, Baby Jacob and me! What a group.
We had a great family dinner at Sarah and Ryan's last Wednesday. Alexis was only 5 days old and Jacob was 3 weeks. It was fun to see how big the whole gang has become. Here are a few snapshots of the night. A BIG thanks to Ryan H. for sending us pictures. Our camera was briefly misplaced after Tyler's big photo shoot ( see earlier post!)
Jacob and Alexis pooped after a long day of...sleeping ?!
Time with Granny and Grandpa. Two more grand kids in two weeks!

Just our little family of 4. I am so lucky to be surrounded by good looking men. If you can't read the shirts, Tyler's says "big brother" and Jacob's says "little brother".

A Very Merry Unbirthday...to Tyler

Granny and Grandpa Crooks (uncle Kyle too) were able to come down to visit when Aunt Sarah had her baby. We got to spend time with the folks staying at our house while Sarah was in the hospital. It was nice of Sarah to have her baby at a hospital close to us ;) Thanks for being so thoughtful!

While everyone was in town we had a little unbirthday party for Tyler. He turns 2 in only one month! It blows my mind how old he's getting...but that's not the point of this post. We had a yummy BBQ and cake with ice cream for dessert.

Tyler had a blast opening presents. I think the best part of the whole night was watching him dance around saying, "party! party! party!" I have no clue where he learned what a party is, but he sure was excited about it.

Tyler also had some fun on the merry-go-round at the outlets with grandpa. That is a special treat since grandpas usually get left out of the fun while they're off working. Later that week, when Aunt Sarah and baby Alexis were finally home we got together for a little family dinner at the Hecht's home and got some fun family pictures of the two new grandbabies together. What a fun sight. Jacob and Alexis are just over 2 weeks apart. Jacob was born 7lb 7oz 19 inches, and Alexis was born 6lb 10oz 19.5 inches. Jacob is now over 9 1/2 lbs and just 4 weeks old!

Jacob through the eyes of Tyler

Tyler got his hands on the camera the other day and this 200 picture photo shot ensued. Somehow he figured out how to turn it on and take pictures of his sleeping brother. It was a funny sight to see. Here are a few shots that will make a name for Tyler someday.

a quick little diddy

I'm just realizing that it has almost been 4 weeks already and I feel like I'm forgetting everything!

Our sweet Jacob has been such an angel. He sleeps so well during the day and pretty well at night. He gets up only to eat and goes right back to sleep (most of the time). I know that Heavenly Father has a big hand in how amazing this kid is. He knows me, He knows Tyler, and I'm sure He knows Jacob better than I do ;) Jacob will sleep soundly for long stretches of time right when Tyler decides he needs mommy's attention. Tyler will give Jacob sweet kisses and squeezes and calls him "Jakey". When Jacob is fussy Tyler tries to give him his pacifier or whatever treat he is eating.

Just the other day I was trying to get ready to head out the door and I had heard Jacob stop crying so I looked over to find Tyler up on the couch next to Jacob's crib "sharing" his apple with Jacob. Just one of many, many ways Tyler has amazed me at his capability to love someone so easily.

We are loving life and I am surviving...no, better than surviving, I dare say- I'm enjoying being a mom of two sweet, wonderful, amazing, handsome, boys! I need to be better about documenting our fun moments because I forget them all to easily. Hope all the moms out there had a great Mother's Day yesterday. I have all the gifts I could ever need- all three of my men make me the mom that I am today and the mom I'm trying to become.

Potty Training by Tyler

I've been wondering how to potty train my sweet Tyler sometime soon. It turns out all I had to do was ask him if he wanted to go on the big boy potty (well, mostly) and he has taken it from there. As long as I remember to ask him if he'd like to try he will hop right on and usually go. This morning he not only hopped on- but went ... uh... #2 ;) Oh the things we get excited about as parents. Maybe he'll actually be potty trained before the summer is over! Yahoo.

A Noteworthy Day

We survived another day just the three of us. It started off by sleeping in until 7 am! That's right, Ryan actually went to work while we were all still in bed. Tyler is getting a little better at sleeping in past 5 am... a little. You'd have to ask Ryan for the details though because he's been the best husband ever and has been getting up with him each day.

Part way through the morning we got out a new train from Grandma and Grandpa Denos. Tyler was loving it but kept looking for more cars. I told him we'd get more cars when he started going potty in the big boy potty and sleeping in his big boy bed. Well, he must understand me sometimes because he hopped right up and said, "potty". We went and let him sit on the potty and try- sure enough, after a few moments of effort he went pee on the big boy potty! He was so excited for himself. He even went potty one more time during the day. Funny thing is that he will only go on the big potty, not his little potty- training one ;)

Tyler also learned how to unlock the deadbolt on our front door- and run out it! Time for some extra locks.

Jacob has had a pretty sad looking diaper rash and it is finally healing. Also, the big "C" is finally completely healed today. The little plastic thing they leave on fell right off in his morning diaper.

My boys have had an eventful day- and that was all before going to Aunt Sarah and Uncle Ryan's for dinner with the entire family! Fun day, long day. Time for a quiet night (hopefully)
