Adam's 6 month Stats

After a sad night with Adam's first fever, we had a "fun" morning at the Dr. for his 6 month well check (at 6 1/2 months)

Height: 26.75 inches (50%)
Weight: 18 lbs. (50%)
Head cricumference: 45cm (75-90%)

So I was right- he does have a big head ;)  But we love him none-the-less.

I am so glad to have another boy who is just average.  So much better than how special he was at the beginning.

At the end of a long day

I could not be more grateful for a wonderful friend who listened to me complain about how difficult my otherwise blessed life is. But I'm working on letting me feel however it is I am feeling.  I know I am blessed far beyond many, however, that does not mean that life is always easy and I am allowed to be stressed out, overwhelmed, and exhausted, and still know that I am lucky to have all that I do.

I love hearing my boys playing nice and singing, "I am a Child of God"...really.  This is after I cursed their existence and was pretty sure they were satan's spawn.

Got to enjoy a semi-quiet dinner at the table, alone, looking through a magazine while the boys made a watery mess of the backyard and each other.

Love my boys but still can't wait for bedtime.

Playing with oobleck

To pass some time one morning while we were trying to stay quiet so Ryan could sleep (since he now works nights) we decided to make some oobleck- as the boys named it. It's the lovely corn starch and water mixture that is a blast for kids to mess around with. The boys were occupied for almost an hour and clean up wasn't too bad. We just put down a vinyl tablecloth on our kitchen floor and went to town. It is so nice when the boys are happy with something so simple.

Random Updates from July

I am so lucky, that amid all the insanity at our house, we get moments like these. Both Tyler and Jacob love to love on Adam. They will, however, usually fight over who gets a turn first ;)

And below are my twins. But really, don't Jake and Adam look so much alike? I should compare baby pictures side by side sometime.

July 24th Tyler gave his first talk in Primary. His topic was "The temple is a house of God." He was so excited because this kid has always loved temples. We printed out pictures we had of Tyler at all the different temples he had been to and he was supposed to tell where each temple was and what he loved about it. Well, I ended up giving the talk in primary that day, but at least he stood up there and smiled.

My cousin Heidi and her 4 kids stopped by overnight on her way from California home to Kansas. Sadly, this is the only picture I have from our time with her but it was so much fun to hang with Heidi for a little bit and see all the kids.

Journaling- Adam @ 6 months

My sweet little boy is already 6 months old. The thought makes me want to cry, really. He is wonderful and happy and simple. I think Adam was sent to this family to take care of me. I can literally be on the brink of going crazy with the two big boys, then Adam will wake up and when I go to get him, he has a great big smile and cuddle for me. He already has a way of being a peacemaker with the boys. Tyler and Jake could be fighting or arguing and if they hear Adam being sad they will stop what they are doing and go say "hi" to him a million times over.

I love that Adam and his daddy have a sweet relationship as well. Adam absolutely lights up when Ryan catches his eye. His arms and legs get going and his smile could not be any bigger.

Adam has slept through the night about three times total and I think it's about time to work on that a bit. He goes down for naps and bedtime pretty easy though. Adam has found his feet and loves rolling around with them- but still not rolling over, at least not consistently.

Adam got his first tooth last week. I think it may have actually been the day he turned 6 months old. He handled it like a pro and didn't even whine really.

If all of our kids were as easy as Adam has been I could have handled a few more. (I even heard Ryan say that a time or two!) Adam, even if there aren't pictures of you around the house yet- we sure do love you and could not imagine our family without you. I know you were sent here at this time to be my sliver lining on a crazy cloud of raising three boys so close together. You are a very special boy and I am lucky to be your mom. Love you so much.

Journaling- Life with 3

I'm sitting here not quite feeling like sleeping but my brain isn't working well enough to blog everything I want to.

Life with three kids has been full. There have been many moments of sweetness, some of insanity, and more than a few sleep deprived freak outs (on my part and the boys)

Daily life usually starts around 5:30am, when 1, 2, or all 3 boys are awake. We make it downstairs and watch some PBS and the boys get their chocolate milk. We spend about a half hour just cuddling and watching shows. The boys end up making some sort of mess or playing outside. Then we make breakfast together.
Adam usually wakes up somewhere around this point. He gets his cereal for breakfast now that he's a big boy :)

This is where we used to say good-bye to daddy and then play some more, but Ryan just started working nights so this is about when we say good-night to him now.

We get the boys dressed and pick up the room a little then it's about time for Adam to go back down for his morning nap. He will nap anywhere from 1-3 hours for his first nap.

While he sleeps the boys have been enjoying computer games, playing with their batcave, and beating each other up- unfortunately. We end up eating a snack, doing some cleaning, and playing games while we wait for Adam to wake up. Some days we get to run errands before the big boys nap, but other days, like today, Adam naps until almost noon, then it's time for the big boys to go down for their nap, then when Adam is ready for his second nap the boys are usually getting up and wanting to go do something again.

Adam is so patient with his big brothers, and Tyler and Jake are patient with his schedule too. It feels like we are trapped at home most days between everyone's naps but the boys have been doing pretty well.

Jake has been completely embracing his 2-year-old-ness and drives us crazy with his tantrums. He is sooo stubborn and refuses to listen to anyone. He is very physical right now and hits and scratches a lot. I am trying so hard to find the right way to work with this kid but it is killing me. I am so glad they grow out of this phase...eventually.

Tyler has finally given up on his naps now- at 4 years and 2 months...it was good while it lasted. We'll see if no napping helps him sleep better at night. I just hope that I can do without naps. Tyler has also been great at doing what I need him to do - like when Jake is driving me nuts. Tyler also climbs right into his bed now when told and doesn't get out. Finally!! He does still come in my room about once every four days- but I am grateful for the progress.

I should get some rest while I can. I am run-ragged, sleep-deprived, and crazed most days, but I am so blessed to have three healthy, energetic little boys. Life is full and I'm sure I'll miss these crazy days when they're gone. For now, I'm just TIRED.
