Baby Update

So, I guess I'm technically 36 weeks today. We went to the Dr. this morning and everything looks good for the little guy.

This office doesn't do ultrasounds until you're at the hospital so it will be a surprise to see how big/small T. Crooks is! I have all my paper work to take with me to the hospital and now I just need to pack our bags...oh- and go to California one last time :)

I actually managed to lose a pound over the past two weeks. Not like there's been anything stressful going on. And my heartburn has been so gnarly that I was up sick all last night. That is one amazing thing about having a kid- my crazy heartburn really does go away instantly the second that little one is out.

Basically no news is good news at this point. Our sweet boy is staying put and we'll back at the Dr's next week!

A lot to be grateful for

It may sound odd, but after the craziness of this week the prevailing feeling is one of gratitude.

Sure, Tyler may still be pretty sick, but I have a great husband, family, and friends who have been amazing support during this stressful and scary time.

Our fun actually began last Saturday when Tyler got electrocuted before 6:30am. He instantly had charred white skin which later turned into some killer blisters. He was trying to unplug the laptop charger from the wall and his little fingers got in the wrong place. What fun.

Wednesday started the vomiting- then the Urgent Care around 1:30, ER from 3-8pm or so. We were blessed with a very caring doctor at the Urgent care, helpful insurance representatives, a kind nurse and ER doc.
Thursday brought on severe diarrhea and more vomiting but his fever came down from 103 to 100. His little heart was still beating around 160 bpm. Tyler was our little bump on a log all day and went to bed early.
Friday brought more fun. Ryan went back to work and Tyler and I made it through another day with a few barf sessions and some yucky diapers- but no wet diapers...so the worrying began again. We headed to the ER again because he was being so irritable, refusing to drink, and still no wet diapers. After waiting in the insanely crowded ER for two hours without even being seen we decided that our sweet little boy could rest better at home.
Saturday was more nerves, waiting for puke, hoping for a wet diaper...we made it to our tour of the hospital where I'll be having our sweet little boy in a few weeks and after a second nap for little guy we made it out to buy some sand for his sandbox and a propane tank for daddy's new toy- his grill.
Sunday morning Tyler woke up begging for food and drink again but ended up barfing. We made the decision to go back to the ER AGAIN because he still had no wet diapers. Tyler was still lethargic at this point. We showed up to Summerlin ER only to find the fire alarm going off so we could not even go in to the ER. Thankfully, it was only a short time later that we were allowed in and only a few minutes after that Tyler puked all over the lobby floor and got us a free pass back to a room in the pediatric ER.
Today Tyler got some more "special water" in his arm. He really hated having the IV in his arm instead of the hand- but he was feeling bad enough to actually ask to see the doctor and he was even asking for the "water" in his hand. He slept for the majority of the time in the ER today and the only real answer we got from the Doc today is that it is probably just a nasty case of the stomach flu or possibly the rotovirus.
We had a special visitor at the ER today. My sweet sister brought Ryan and I food since we left the house without eating again. Then we got to come home to a clean kitchen, fresh bedding for Tyler, a few dinners in the freezer, and an extra person to share the burden with. We are so blessed to have such amazing family close by. Heather has been my "phone nurse" this whole time. She is an RN and I always end up calling her to ask questions when my little guy is sick. I'm sure I stressed her out a ton, so I'm glad she got to come see for herself and give our little guy some extra love.
After getting a prescription for anti-nausea meds and making it home we all got to rest and then we were contacted by several people from the ward with concern, support, and food- delicious food. I feel very blessed to have such caring people watching out for us. Ryan and I feel so loved by individuals that barely even know us. We have always known that we have a special little guy- but this just proves it again.
There aren't words to explain how grateful we are for the blessings we have seen this week. We have strengthened our testimony of priesthood blessings and most definitely the strength of the family. I love how supportive my husband is. I know I would have been a mess without him. He is working so hard with work, school, and now a sick kid and a very pregnant wife. I think he is amazing and deserves some fantastic award for being so wonderful.
Just in case we have forgotten how cute our little guy is, this last picture is to remind me how much fun he is when he is healthy and happy. We had a blast at the outlets with some (very patient) friends a few weeks ago. I love Tyler's smile in this photo. Let's hope we get back to this little boy soon!

Our first ER visit

Well, this was a first we were not excited to have, but we ended up at the ER today.

Tyler had been throwing up all day and our backyard wasn't quite perfect. I was being the emotional, pregnant wife and called Ryan at work crying when Tyler just wouldn't stop puking. Ryan came home from work and we waited until the guys finished up the yard.

Tyler was so lethargic we knew something was just not right. We headed down the the urgent care and actually got in fairly quick. They decided our little guy needed IV fluids and they didn't have the means to do it there so we got sent to the Summerlin ER where they have a peds unit.

Our poor boy was begging for water and "chocolate" (chocolate milk) but we couldn't give him anything. His heart rate was sky high, his fever was 102.1, and he could hardly keep his eyes open. It was a little scary at times to try to decide between if he was just tired or having serious complications. He went through too many temperatures, none of which were taken orally, poor kiddo. He also had a catheter (so sad) and an IV. He was such a trooper. Even the nurse comment how sick he must be if he wasn't fighting at all. We went through a few tummy X-rays too.

Quite the day really. Thankfully the IV fluids stayed in just fine and once Tyler got some juice in a cool new sippy cup he was stoked! We were home by 8 and sweet guy was in bed by 8:30pm.

Thanks to all of the thoughts and prayers of the family. It is never easy to see a little one go through anything like this. We are thankful he is okay for the most part and hopefully tomorrow we'll be 100% again.

Backyard Day 2

Notice the lack of Tyler in the pictures...my poor little guy has been throwing up all morning so he's down for a nap. He hardly even looked out the door when the guys showed up to work this morning...he must be sick! Today we are getting the rock and grass put in. The irrigation is all hooked up and working already. We're so excited to go out and play in our new yard. It'll be awesome!
